Texas State baseball infielder Dawson Park is no longer with the program, following an on-field altercation after last Sunday’s loss to South Alabama. Park’s name is no longer on the online team roster.
Park was leading the team in RBIs and home runs prior to his departure. The move was first reported by the San Marcos Daily’s Colton McWilliams, and Bobcat officials confirmed Park’s departure to the American-Statesman via text. Details about his removal have not been released.
McWilliams reports that after Park flew out for the final out Sunday, he got into an argument with one of his teammates. The two needed to be separated, and the sophomore was eventually escorted to the team locker room by assistant coaches. Park was not in the lineup for Texas State’s win over Baylor or its Friday victory over Arkansas State.
He was a Class of 2024 prospect out of Magnolia, who has been heralded for his defense.
The Bobcats will finish their series against the Red Wolves this weekend before travelling Tuesday to San Antonio to face the Roadrunners. Texas State concludes its regular season at home against Marshall the following weekend. The team is still battling for a spot in the Sun Belt Tournament.
