The No. 1 wide receiver in the Dallas area has found his college home.
Texas Tech now has the 18th-ranked recruiting class for 2027 in the nation, according to 247Sports. Caldwell (6-0, 185) is rated the 17th-best wide receiver in the nation and the 11th-best overall recruit in Texas.
The Under Armour All-American and second-team MaxPreps junior All-American had 94 catches for 1,737 yards and 20 touchdowns, averaging 18.5 yards per catch for a 12-2 regional finalist. He led area Class 5A players in all three categories and had eight games with 100 or more yards receiving.
Caldwell, rated the fifth-best player in D-FW, is the fourth member of the top 15 to commit to Texas Tech. He joins Cedar Hill defensive lineman Jalen Brewster, DeSoto running back SaRod Baker and DeSoto defensive lineman K’Adrian Redmond.
Texas Tech is coming off a 12-2 season and appearance in the College Football Playoff, and Texas Tech coach Joey McGuire, formerly the coach at Cedar Hill, continues to have success recruiting the state of Texas. Seven of Tech’s nine commitments for the Class of 2027 are Texans, and so were 16 of the 22 signees from the Class of 2026.
