It wasn’t a decoration! Police confirm a monkey got loose at a North Texas Spirit Halloween store this week.
PLANO, Texas — It wasn’t a decoration! A monkey got loose at a North Texas Spirit Halloween store this week, police confirm.Â
Plano police said they were called to a Spirit Halloween store shortly after 9:30 p.m. Oct. 27 in the 800 block of W. 15th Street about a monkey that had gotten loose in the store.Â
Plano police released body camera footage from the call that showed the monkey swinging from the rafters of the ceiling in the store. Officers indicated in the video that animal control may have been notified about the incident before they arrived.Â
“I can’t say I’ve ever been to a call with a monkey before,” one of the officers could be heard saying in the video.Â
After officers arrived, the owner of the monkey was able to entice the monkey down from the ceiling using a cookie and gain control of it, police say.Â
The owner of the monkey got hold of it after the monkey came down from the ceiling, officials say.
In body camera video from a second officer, people could be seen gathered around before the monkey jumped down and into its owner’s arms.Â
A person could be seen carrying the monkey in their arms in the body camera video, and confirmed ownership of the monkey to the officers.Â
There are two Spirit Halloween stores in Plano: One in the 800 block of W. 15th Street and another in the 1600 block of W. Preston Road, according to Spirit’s website, with other stores around North Texas.
