H-E-B’s expansion into North Texas hasn’t slowed down since the chain planted its flag in the region with a Frisco store in 2022. Cities like McKinney, Plano, Prosper, Rockwall and more have joined the bunch, with locations in other cities nearing opening. And the takeover continues, as the grocer just filed for yet another in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration, a new H-E-B will pop up in Carrollton, a Denton County city about 20 miles northwest of the heart of Dallas. Carrollton City Council approved the rezoning of a 17.2-acre plot to clear the way for the store back in January, a push that had been in the works since a public hearing in December 2025.
The 121,228-square-foot store will land on Parker Road just off Sam Rayburn Tollway, and the TDLR filing estimates that the project comes with a $22.8 million price tag. A second filing lists a $1.2 million fueling station and car wash as part of the project.
New stores — like one opening later this month serving Hurst, Euless and Bedford (or HEB, for short) — tend to feature a drive-thru pharmacy, an eatery like True Texas BBQ, plus curbside and delivery. That seems like it will ring true in Carrollton, as a city council news release states the location will have a restaurant and pharmacy, both offering drive-thru, as well as covered grocery pick-up, more than 600 parking spots, a bakery, a seafood counter, a meat market, housewares, produce and plants.
Currently, there are a few options for groceries in Carrollton, such as discount chain WinCo Foods, Kroger and H Mart, a Korean grocery chain that people here in San Antonio are still waiting to be blessed with.
So, when can North Texas expect its newest H-E-B? The TDLR filing sets an August 10 start date for construction and anticipates that work will wrap up by early November 2027. It seems that points to an opening either late next year or early 2028. Keep in mind that TDLR filings aren’t set in stone, so those details are subject to change.
As of now, an opening date is still far from being revealed, so it’s a ways out until Carrollton residents can get their hands on a fresh butter tortilla. A spokesperson for H-E-B told MySA there aren’t any updates to share at this time.
