Texas book lovers, rejoice! Barnes & Noble is rolling out more than a dozen new stores in the Lone Star State next month, including a grand opening next week for the bookstore’s latest outpost in Texas’ capital city.
Austin will welcome its fourth in-city Barnes & Noble on Wednesday, November 5, joining existing storefronts at The Arboretum and Lakeline Mall in North Austin, as well as Sunset Valley in South Austin and Austin-area locations in Round Rock and Bee Cave. The newest store will open in Southpark Meadows at 9600 S. I-35 Frontage Road, Barnes & Noble officials said in an announcement on Wednesday, October 29.
Southpark Meadows’ Barnes & Noble encompasses roughly 20,000 square feet of space for books, magazines, gift items, toys and a B&N Cafe. A grand opening is slated for 10 a.m. on opening day, with author Tracy Wolff poised to host the ribbon-cutting ceremony ahead of her book signing for her latest novel, It Happened on a Sunday.
Austin’s newest bookstore isn’t the only Barnes & Noble joining the ranks in the Lone Star State. Barnes & Noble is on track to open 13 additional Texas bookstores in November, with eight additional locations soon to come online in California, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania, company officials noted.
“Texas is home to more Barnes & Noble bookstores than any other state, and now we happily add one more to the ranks,” James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble, said in the announcement. “Expanding our presence into South Austin has been a priority, and our Southpark Meadows booksellers are eager to welcome customers into their beautiful new Barnes & Noble.”
