Police in Fort Worth, Texas, are investigating a possible bomb threat at Paschal High School on Thursday afternoon, according to officials.
In a letter to parents and guardians, Principal Rodney White said the school had been placed on “SECURE protocol” at the direction of the Fort Worth ISD Police Department, following reports of a potential threat.
“All students and staff are safe inside,” White said, adding that the Fort Worth Fire Department’s bomb squad was at the scene.
Under the SECURE protocol, exterior doors are locked, dismissal is delayed, and nearby streets are temporarily closed while police conduct their investigation, the letter stated.
Authorities have urged anyone near the campus to remain in their vehicles and follow officers’ instructions.
The Fort Worth Independent School District said it had begun a controlled release of students from Paschal High School.
The Fort Worth Police Department confirmed it was overseeing the process, releasing students in zones. It said buses already on campus had departed, while additional buses were staged several blocks away under police direction.
