EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Founder and owner of El Paso’s Alamo Auto Supply, Robert Edward Krasne, died at age 89 on Saturday, May 9, according to an obituary from Sunset Funeral Homes.

His funeral services will be live-streamed at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 11, and the graveside service will be live-streamed later at 3:30 p.m.
Krasne was born on July 9, 1936, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, just outside of Omaha. He graduated from the University of Nebraska and married Elaine Krantz, where they went to have four children, according to the obituary.
In 1976, Kranse took his “hugest leap of faith” and moved from Council Bluffs to El Paso, over 1,000 miles away.
“His optimism and willingness to enter the unknown drove him to make this move to El Paso, where his family flourished and where he, together with his sons, built Alamo Auto Supply into a thriving family business,” read the obituary.
Outside of his auto supply business, Krasne was a dedicated member of the Temple Mount Sinai, the El Paso Holocaust Museum and the El Paso Jewish Community Foundation.
Krasne is survived by his wife, four children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
“Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend — and the kindest soul we knew — lived a long life defined by immense fortitude, eternal optimism and the deepest devotion to his family. We will carry the lessons learned and gifts imparted from him with us forever,” read the obituary.
