One hotel in the Fort Worth Stockyards plans to undergo a major makeover beginning this summer.
The Hyatt Place Fort Worth Historic Stockyards, located on the eastern end of Fort Worth’s historic Stockyards district, will begin a “complete interior renovation with exterior upgrades,” per a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) document obtained by Chron. The project will cost an estimated $9 million, and the renovation will begin Aug. 3. Renovations will last through the end of 2026, likely concluding at the end of January 2027.
Additional renovations to the entrance, pool area and south side of the Hyatt are also expected, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Harrison Mantas. The hotel reportedly plans to add a patio to the right of its entryway, and a pool will receive a free-standing pergola with curtains to create “cabana-style” seating for additional shade. Another pergola will be added on the south side of the hotel, which will cover new seating and fire pits.
The Hyatt is not expected to close during the planned renovation.

VLK, a Plano-based firm, was selected to design the new layout and assorted upgrades for the Hyatt.
The Hyatt Place Fort Worth Historic Stockyards opened in 2005 and underwent its first renovation in 2011. The five-story, 101-room building is the latest hotel in the Stockyards to plan a renovation in recent months. The historic Stockyards Hotel, as well as its in-house restaurant, H3 Ranch will undergo a $30 million renovation this year, and both will close temporarily for the renovation. The H3 Ranch is expected to reopen in late 2026, while the Stockyards Hotel is expected to reopen in early 2027.

Nearly 120 employees will be impacted by the closure, with servers, cooks, housekeepers, front desk agents and hotel and restaurant managers among those who will lose their current positions to the renovation.
