A Houston Methodist hospital employee was stabbed in a Texas Medical Center garage Monday morning, according to the hospital and Houston police.
Police responded at around 7:15 a.m. to a male who was stabbed at 6519 Fannin Street – the Texas Medical Center Parking Garage 1, Houston police spokesperson Jodi Silva said. She said he was transported to the hospital, and the victim was undergoing treatment in an emergency department nearby, according to Houston Methodist.
Silva said the department’s major assaults division was responding, and police were searching for a suspect.
Part of the hospital’s campus locked down temporarily “out of an abundance of caution,” Houston Methodist spokesperson Gale Smith said. There was no sign of an “active or imminent threat,” she added.
“The safety and well-being of our employees, patients and visitors remains our top priority,” she said in a statement.
Smith deferred to the Texas Medical Center for additional information. Texas Medical Center police directed the Chronicle to dispatch, which declined to comment on the case.
