BUFFALO, Mo. (KY3) – Authorities arrested a Dallas County instructor on sex crime charges stemming from West Virginia.
Jonathan Whatley taught at the technical center in the Dallas County R-1 School District. Whatley faces one count of distribution or possession of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
Authorities in McDowell County, West Virginia, issued the warrant for an incident that happened in July. A Dallas County R-1 school resource officer received a tip regarding the warrant on Wednesday and arrested Whatley at the school. Investigators say he awaits extradition to West Virginia.
School district leaders posted a statement on Facebook saying, “The District is fully cooperating with law enforcement as they continue their investigation. While absolutely no district students were involved, please know we take this matter seriously, and the safety and well-being of our students will always remain our highest priority.”
