EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Texas state Sen. Cesar Blanco, D-El Paso, wants to hear from El Paso about possibly renaming the Cesar Chavez Border Highway.

Blanco said he wants input from the community on the “potential redesignation” of the highway.
This comes after a series of sex abuse allegations surfaced against the late civil rights activist and labor leader, Chavez, who has been dead since 1993.
“This is about making sure any decision reflects El Paso’s voice,” Blanco said.
The survey is open through Aug. 31, and every response will be reviewed, Blanco said.
“Your input will help inform how the office evaluates potential next steps,” reads the introductory text for the survey.
