LLANO, Texas — The Llano Police Department has issued a warning about a phone spoofing scam after receiving reports of fraudulent calls appearing to come from their number.
According to the department, individuals have been receiving calls from someone claiming to be a detective investigating a fraud case, asking to “verify” personal information.

One recipient became suspicious and discovered that the supposed detective’s name did not match any officer listed on the department’s website.
The police department emphasized that they would never request personal information in this manner and urged residents to be vigilant.
