An interstate in San Antonio is partially shut down on Tuesday, May 12, after a major crash happened on the westbound lanes. It happened at around 8:38 a.m., but is still causing delays, according to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
The two right lanes on Interstate 10 (I-10) at TX-13-Loop and W.W. White Road are closed as a result of the collision, according to TxDOT’s Tranguide system. This means only one lane remains open for people to pass through. Drivers are being diverted onto the frontage road and are being warned that delays could last up to one hour.
Vehicles are snailing along on the roadways between 3 and 18 mph, per the traffic monitoring site SigAlert. A line of cars stretches all the way back to FM-1516 at Exit 585, according to TxDOT cameras. Police cars are also at the scene. Currently, it is unclear as to what caused the crash and how many people were involved.
