During the 2026 football season, two of the biggest games on Texas’ schedule will be in prime time.
Texas announced on Tuesday that its home game against Ohio State on Sept. 12 and its road game at Texas A&M on Nov. 27 will both begin at 6:30 p.m. The Longhorns’ showdowns against the Buckeyes and Aggies will be televised by ABC.
The kickoff time for UT’s trip to College Station shouldn’t be a surprise. Texas and Texas A&M have played at night in each of the past two seasons, and the Lone Star Showdown rivalry last had a pre-6 p.m. start time in 2007.
But since Texas and Ohio State played at 12 p.m. ET in Columbus last season, there may have been some concern about an afternoon kickoff among Texas fans who know how warm it can get in Austin in September. Last year’s Texas-Ohio State game, however, was broadcast by FOX, which likes to save its marquee matchups for its noon slot. ABC often airs its top games in prime time.
The Ohio State and Texas A&M matchups are now the only games on UT’s schedule that have an official start time.
