With hurricane season just weeks away, Corpus Christi city leaders are encouraging residents to begin preparing now after officially proclaiming June as Hurricane Awareness Month. The proclamations was announced during a ceremonial presentation before the Corpus Christi City Council on Tuesday.
“Therefore, pursuant to the powers vested in me as mayor of the City of Corpus Christi, I do hereby proclaim June 2026 Hurricane Preparedness Month in Corpus Christi,” Mayor Pauletta Guajardo said during the meeting.
The Atlantic hurricane season officially begins June 1 and continues through November 30. City leaders and emergency officials are urging residents to review emergency plans, gather supplies and stay informed as the Coastal Bend enters the most active months from tropical weather.
As part of those preparedness efforts, 3News will air a hurricane preparedness special on Saturday, May 30, following the 6 p.m. newscast.

The program will include information on evacuation planning, emergency supplies, weather alerts and storm safety tips aimed at helping Coastal Bend residents prepare for hurricane season.
