ARLINGTON — Rangers left fielder Wyatt Langford remains in a holding pattern as he works his way back from a right forearm strain.
The Rangers have sought the opinion of a forearm specialist to best determine how Langford should proceed with his recovery, after it’s already been paused once. Langford completed a swing progression two weeks ago and played one minor league rehab game at the club’s Surprise, Ariz. complex, but after he re-aggravated his forearm injury in his first at-bat, he was removed from the contest and shut down.
“We’re just not really sure what it kind of looks like yet,” Langford said of his return timeline. “I’m pretty optimistic about, you know, within the next two or three weeks being back out there.”
Langford, who slashed .238/.274/.363 before his injury, was eligible to return May 2 and has now missed 19 games.
Rangers right-handed pitcher Chris Martin, out since April 15 with a shoulder impingement, made his first minor league rehab appearance at Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday afternoon. The 39-year-old allowed four runs on four hits — two of which were home runs — in two-thirds of an inning.
