(KBTX) – Le’Veon Moss, who amassed more than 1,700 yards in four seasons with Texas A&M, retired from the NFL less than a month after signing as an undrafted free agent.
According to a release from the Miami Dolphins, the running back was placed on the reserve/retired list Tuesday. He signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent on May 8.
By placing Moss on the reserve/retired list, the organization retains Moss’s rights should he decide to return to professional football.
Moss was an All-SEC running back for the Aggies, with a propensity for power rushing. In four seasons he collected 1,767 yards and 22 touchdowns on 321 rushes, while he averaged 3.66 yards after contact.
However, his college career was riddled with injuries, limiting him to a high of nine games in a season during his four years. A knee injury suffered during A&M’s trip to South Carolina ended his junior season early. Last year, Moss only played in seven games due to multiple injuries.
Moss also dealt with anxiety on the field, head coach Mike Elko confirmed while Moss was at A&M. He vomited on the sidelines during multiple games in his college career and needed time to recover.
Most notably, Moss missed most of A&M’s win over Arkansas in 2024. The back returned in the fourth quarter to help close out the Aggies’ win.
“He was dealing with a little bit of anxiety, honestly, early on and working through that,” Elko said after that game. “He got a bruised chin at some point that we needed to kind of calm down a little bit and so he’s good to go.”
The Aggies had 10 selections in the 2026 NFL Draft, tying the program’s record, set in 1976. It broke the record for most players selected in a seven-round draft. Moss was one of five Aggie players to sign undrafted free agent contracts in the class.
