If you like country songs chock-full of whiskey, beer and pickup trucks, then Dallas-based singer-songwriter Thomas Csorba probably isn’t for you.
A former Baylor University English major, Csorba (pronounced Chor-ba) has emerged as one of the most sophisticated young songwriters in North Texas: Tender Country, his third album, takes a philosophic look at juggling music with marriage and fatherhood.
“Bigger Wheels” is a bittersweet dance tune about your kid’s blink-of-an-eye journey from stroller to driver’s seat. The lovely neo-traditionalist ballad “Big Time” pits the quest for stardom against your own common sense. Csorba, a father of two, said he wrote the tune “on the edge of the cliff of giving up” his dream.
“[It’s] the elephant in the room: How does someone who values his stable home life and family reconcile that with his life as a travelling musician?” he said in a statement.
