A Central Texas city was briefly under a shelter-in-place order as authorities searched for what they called a “dangerous and violent suspect.”
In a post made shortly after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, the Austin Police Department (APD) issued the order in a post on X that read: “SHELTER IN PLACE: Austin Police is assisting another agency in locating a dangerous and violent suspect with outstanding warrants who is at large in the area of Willow Springs and Industrial Boulevard. Residents are urged to lock their doors, remain indoors, and call 9-1-1 if you see the suspect.”
However, less than 10 minutes later, APD alerted the public that the shelter-in-place order had been lifted, but the suspect is not yet in custody. In a post on X, APD wrote, “After an extensive search, it is believed the subject has fled the area.”
The police department described the suspect, noting it is a black male wearing a white hat with a red brim and a white shirt, approximately 34 years of age, roughly 6-feet tall and approximately 210 pounds with a “muscular build.” Authorities ask the public not to approach the subject and to call 9-1-1 with any information.
