LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Lubbock Police Department, Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety will deliver hot lunches for Lubbock Meals on Wheels on Thursday.
The event will begin at 10:15 a.m. at the Lubbock Meals on Wheels office at 2304 34th St. Officers will deliver meals to homebound, elderly and disabled residents.
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as Peace Officers’ Memorial Day and the week surrounding it as National Police Week.
Lubbock Meals on Wheels is not government funded and is not a United Way agency. The organization feeds over 1,100 homebound people with support from the Lubbock and Wolfforth communities.
