One Corpus Christi elementary school was ranked the third-best elementary school in Texas, according to U.S. News & World Report.

Windsor Park Elementary School outranked schools in many of Texas’ biggest cities, including Houston and Dallas.

But Windsor Park Elementary School is not a typical elementary school. The campus hosts the Corpus Christi Independent School District’s gifted and talented program. Corpus Christi ISD kindergartners at every elementary school are tested for gifted and talented eligibility before admittance at Windsor Park. The school also accepts applications from students from other school districts.

U.S. News & World Report released 2026 elementary and middle school rankings on Oct. 28, assessing 127,538 schools. The rankings are based on student proficiency in math and reading state assessments, taking into account socioeconomic demographics.
