Drivers heading out into rush hour traffic in San Antonio will face major delays on one major highway. Here’s what you need to know.
A crash on northbound Highway 281 at Basse Road, reported shortly after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, is causing delays of up to two hours, according to SigAlert, a traffic monitoring website.
The impacted area stretches from near the Alamo Quarry Market shopping center, not far from the airport, to downtown San Antonio.
As of 4:15 p.m., SigAlert said the right lane is getting by, and drivers are backed up to I-35. The traffic map shows congestion has brought traffic to a standstill.
TxDOT’s incident map lists the crash as “major” and includes a description of road debris at Highway 281 and Jones Maltsberger Road.
It’s unclear what caused the crash, how many vehicles may have been involved, and if there are any injuries.
