BELTON, Texas (KWTX) – The Texas Dept. of Public Safety is investigating a deadly collision involving a large service truck that crashed into a food store.
The collision happened at about 12:30 p.m. May 13 on Farm to Market 439 between Wildwood Drive and Spring Canyon Road, west of Belton.
The Bell County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist the Texas Highway Patrol, along with Belton Police Department, Sparta Valley Fire Department and Belton EMS.
Investigators at the scene determined a Pure Sanitation Services trash truck and a passenger car collided.

The large service truck then struck the Lake Food Mart, going into the building.
One driver was transported by ground ambulance to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple.
The other driver was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Ted Duffield.
People inside the business suffered only minor injuries and were not transported by EMS.
Due to the damage to the business, Temple Fire Department’s Technical Rescue responded to the scene.
FM439 remains closed to both east and west bound traffic as the crash scene is cleared and the investigation occurs.
