A central El Paso Mexican eatery was found to have expired meat and improperly stored meat in an April restaurant inspection.
Rincon de Villa at 706 Piedras St. received a 69 in an inspection completed on April 22.
A score of 70 or above is passing. A score of 60 or below will initiate the closure of the establishment.
An inspection conducted on any given day may not represent the establishment’s overall, long-term conditions. Restaurants that fail inspections are given an opportunity to address the violations for reinspection.

Observed food container with food like residue stored on shelf by three compartment sink. Observed multiple food equipment (spoons, knives, spatula, plates) with food like residue on their food contact surfaces being stored on rack by cooking line area.
Observed dented can stored in the dry storage area.
Observed food handler switching tasks using the same gloves.
Observed spray bottle by three compartment sink without a label. Employee stated it was Clorox.
Observed no employee with a certified manager present while operating.
Observed expired lengua guisado stored inside refrigerator by the dry storage.
Observed no soap available in handwashing sink.
Observed melted handle on spatula stored on rack by cooking line area. Observed chipped and cracked lids stored on rack by three compartment sink.
Observed dead cockroaches in storage area.
Observed unused soiled wiping cloths on food prep area. Observed sanitizer bucket stored on the floor.
Observed Maseca stored on the floor by the storage area.
Observed frozen raw meat being thawed outside by dry storage areas.
Observed wet stacking of cups by bar area.
Observed freezer and refrigerator floors with food like residue.
Observed unused garbage disposal lid open.
Observed broken tiles throughout kitchen area.
The restaurant was reinspected on April 22 and received an 87 inspection score.
