CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The 49th annual Beach to Bay Relay Marathon is officially sold out — and organizers say this year’s event is shaping up to be the biggest since the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It’s taken a few years to come back from COVID, but the numbers are high and we’re actually going to sell the race out,” said Beach to Bay Run Director Doug McBee. “It’s been a long time since this has happened. It’s been slow, but we’ve made it and we’re going to be big this year.”
Runners will kick off the marathon on the beach before making their way to the finish line near Water’s Edge Park on the Bayfront. The race offers multiple divisions, including a six-person relay, a two-person relay and a solo full marathon option.
Organizers expect the event to generate a $10 million economic impact for Corpus Christi and the surrounding area.
Residents with plans on the island or near downtown Saturday morning should expect heavy crowds and traffic in the area.
