In a social media post on Wednesday, Dye revealed that after leaving the station in September 2025, she launched her own social media agency, Ad Media LLC, focused on law firms. At the same time, she’s also training to run the Berlin Marathon with the Allyson Whitney Foundation, an organization that supports young adults navigating cancer. Dye has previously completed both a marathon and a half Ironman.
“I quit my job at FOX 26, a sentence I never thought I’d say out loud,” Dye said in the video. “I quit my dream reporting job at FOX.”
Dye said the past six months have brought major changes all at once: leaving local news, starting a business and preparing for one of the world’s biggest marathons. While she had stayed relatively quiet online about the transition, she said she finally felt ready to explain what happened.
“For the past several years, my entire life has revolved around news,” Dye said, explaining that when contract negotiations came up, she ultimately couldn’t agree with what FOX was offering. “I left on great terms, and I still have great relationships with everyone at FOX 26 Houston.”
After stepping away from the station, Dye said she decided to build a social media agency “brick by brick” while continuing to stay connected to journalism, which she described as still being “so deep in my heart.” She also acknowledged that the transition out of TV news has been difficult.
“One of the greatest things about journalism is being able to tell stories and make an impact, which is why I think it’s important to share this chapter of my life candidly,” she said.
Toward the end of the post, Dye encouraged others considering major life changes to take the leap.
“If you needed a sign to leave the job, leave the city, leave a version of you behind that wasn’t serving you anymore, this is it,” she said.
Former FOX 26 colleagues quickly filled the comments with support.
Dye’s last day on air at FOX 26 came in September 2025 after two years at the Houston station. Shortly after joining the channel, she took over reporting duties for the station’s Crime Files segment. At the time of her departure, the station told Chron she had chosen not to renew her contract.
Before moving to Houston, Dye worked at FOX 23 News in Tulsa, Okla., covering crime and public safety. She also previously worked on the digital team at WSYX 7 in Columbus, Ohio, her hometown, and interned with the investigative unit at NBC Los Angeles KNBC while attending the University of Cincinnati. Dye remains in Houston.
