Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner Lesley Briones will host 12 free hurricane and disaster workshops to educate residents as hurricane season nears.
What’s happening?
Precinct 4 officials will offer eight disaster workshops allowing residents to learn about natural and other disasters that affect the Greater Houston area, Precinct 4 officials announced in a May 13 news release.
The workshop will also offer information on emergency kits and how to navigate public and private preparedness resources.

May 13 from 1-2:30 p.m. at Radack Community CenterJune 10 from noon-1 p.m. at Weekley Community CenterJune 16 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at Glazier Senior Education CenterJune 20 from noon-1 p.m. at Burnett Bayland Community CenterJune 23 from 2-3 p.m. at Fonteno Senior Education CenterJune 24 from 11 a.m-noon at Freed Park Community CenterJune 27 from 1-2 p.m. at Bayland Community CenterJune 29 from 1-2 p.m. Hockley Community CenterMeanwhile, Precinct 4 officials will host four hurricane preparedness workshops offering information on emergency resources and how to navigate disaster coverage, per the release.
Attendees will also be given waterproof document bags and be instructed on how to make their own emergency kit.

Residents can visit Precinct 4’s hurricane preparedness website for evacuation routes, emergency kit checklists, in addition to weather and flood information from local, state and federal partners, per the release.

The Atlantic hurricane season begins June 1 and lasts until Nov. 30, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The NOAA is slated to release its 2026 hurricane forecast May 21.
