EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — A Lower Valley park in El Paso is set for a brighter, greener makeover after local leaders broke ground on a new improvement project on Thursday.
The groundbreaking for the Sun City Lights Project was held on Thursday at Pueblo Viejo Park, located near Presa and Alameda.
According to city officials, the project is expected to add more lighting to improve visibility, along with new landscaping.
“We’re going to have a pavilion with illumination on it,” said Rep. Lily Limon, who represents East El Paso and the Lower Valley.
Limon said the upgrades will also include expanded greenery.
“It’s going to have a lush area, lots of bushes, lots of flowers, some trees,” she said.
She described the planned improvements as “Just a beautiful, dynamic gathering place for the citizens of District Seven.”
City leaders said the renovations should be finished by the fall.
