Lucas Martinez remains jailed on a $1.5 million bond after a judge denied its reduction.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A judge has denied a request to lower the bond for Lucas Martinez, who is charged with murder in connection to the death of 21-year-old Benjamin Resendez.
Nueces County Prosecutor Jonathan Crocker confirmed to 3NEWS that Martinez was recently arrested in connection to the disturbing killing that occurred in July 2020.
According to investigators, Texas Rangers discovered Resendez’s remains after authorities say he was shot in the head and his body was later burned inside a large metal container.
Martinez was booked into the Nueces County Jail last month on the murder charge. His attorney asked the court to reduce his $1.5 million bond to a more affordable amount.
That request was denied by Susan Barclay.
Two other men are also being held in the Nueces County Jail facing murder charges in the same case: Oscar Uribe and his nephew, Alfredo Uribe.
