LOCKHART, Texas — Lockhart ISD will begin construction on a new middle school with an over $90 million price tag in early 2026.

Lockhart ISD says that the district will break ground on Middle School #2 in early 2026.

The district says that the project will be paid for with a $93.5 million bond that Lockhart voters approved in May.

$1.5 million of that bond will also be set aside to support future land services.

“This bond is an investment in students and the long-term success of our district,” Lockhart ISD superintendent said in a letter sent to parents after the bond initially passed. “With your support, we can create even more innovative opportunities for students to explore their passions, challenge themselves, and graduate ready for success—whether that means college, career, or service.”
