COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Deputies are investigating the death of an inmate at the El Paso County Jail Thursday night.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) said a 46-year-old woman in custody was found unresponsive on her bunk at the jail around 10:46 p.m.
Deputies and medical staff began lifesaving efforts until crews with American Medical Response (AMR) and the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) arrived at the scene.
AMR and CSFD continued life-saving efforts, but deputies said the woman was pronounced dead at 11:17 p.m.
An investigation is ongoing, but at this time, deputies say self-harm, assault or foul play do not appear to be factors.
