On Friday night, the Texas baseball team secured a series and some clarity.
Powered by four home runs, Texas jumped out to a 10-0 lead in what ended up being an 11-6 win over Missouri at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. After opening this week with Thursday’s 6-3 beating of Missouri and winning by five runs on Friday, UT has now won eight of its 10 SEC series this season.

Due to its win and Alabama’s 9-0 loss to Ole Miss on Friday, Texas (39-12, 18-10) also locked up either the No. 2 or No. 3 seed in next week’s SEC Tournament. That means that UT will receive a double-bye in the bracket and won’t play its quarterfinal game until Friday.
Texas and Missouri (23-29, 6-23) battled through two scoreless innings on Friday before Casey Borba and Carson Tinney both homered during UT’s four-run third inning. Texas then scored six times during a fourth inning that was highlighted by a grand slam off of Tinney’s bat and Anthony Pack Jr.’s solo shot.
Missouri plated six runs in the top of the seventh inning to prevent Texas from earning a run-ruled victory, but the Longhorns eventually got to the finish line.

Texas and Missouri will wrap up the regular season on Saturday in a game that begins at 2 p.m. Ahead of Saturday’s showdown, UT will honor nine players and a student manager as part of its Senior Day festivities. The Longhorns will then send right-handed pitcher Ruger Riojas (5-2, 4.04 ERA) out of the mound against a Missouri starting pitcher that has not yet been announced.

Despite leading by five runs, Texas won’t mess around in the ninth inning. Freshman closer Sam Cozart will be called out of the bullpen. Cozart picked up his eighth save of the season in Friday’s 6-3 win over Missouri.

After giving up six runs in the top of the seventh inning, Texas got one run back in the frame’s bottom half. Casey Borba collected his second RBI of the evening with an RBI single to right field.
With a run-rule rout within reach, Texas starting pitcher Luke Harrison ran out of gas in the seventh inning. Missouri was able to load the bases with one out, and Pierre Seals drew a walk out of the No. 9 spot in the lineup to bring in the Tigers’ first run.

Harrison was pulled after his first walk of the evening, but Missouri later unloaded the bases on Jase Woita’s three-run double off of Thomas Burns. So far this weekend, Woita has driven in five of Missouri’s eight runs.
Texas would make two more pitching changes in the seventh inning as Ethan Walker and Brody Walls got some work in. Missouri added two more runs on a groundout and a wild pitch.
Due to the SEC’s run rule, Texas can end this game if it holds Missouri scoreless in the top of the seventh inning. Luke Harrison, who has allowed three hits tonight, remains on the mound for the Longhorns.

After Texas scored the first of its six runs in the fourth inning on Jayden Duplantier’s bases-loaded walk, Texas got to swinging. Carson Tinney hit a grand slam over the batter’s eye at center field, which was followed up by Anthony Pack Jr.’s solo shot.
Tinney, who also homered in the third inning, is now the fifth-ever Longhorn to go deep at least 20 times in a single season. There was also a promotion going this season where a fan would win a Ford F-150 if a fourth-inning grand slam was hit, so Tinney’s swing wasn’t just notable for the record books.

In the bottom of the third inning, Texas put on a power show as Casey Borba and Carson Tinney both homered. Tinney’s homer was the 19th of his season, which ties Aiden Robbins for the lead among the Longhorns and ranks in a fifth-place tie on UT’s single-season chart. Borba has gone deep 17 times this season and five times over his last four games.
Texas finished the third inning with six hits. The Longhorns added an additional run when Dariyan Pendergrass scored from first place after Missouri threw away an attempted bunt by Jayden Duplantier.

Texas star outfielder Aiden Robbins was pulled from Friday’s game ahead of the third inning. Robbins started on Friday and struck out in the first inning, but he was later replaced in the right field by Jayden Duplantier. There is no official word from Texas about the early exit for Robbins, who entered today with a team-high .350 batting average, 19 homers and 53 RBIs.
Update (8:10 p.m.): According to a team spokesperson, Robbins was removed from tonight’s game because of an illness.

With Texas second baseman Ethan Mendoza unable to play the field for the fourth straight game, UT’s reshuffled infield is looking pretty good. Texas starter Luke Harrison has gotten each of the six batters he has faced tonight to ground out. Three of those grounders were scooped up by Casey Borba, who usually starts at first base. Temo Becerra, who has been the Longhorns’ third baseman, has also recorded three outs at second base.
Both Missouri and Texas were retired in order as starting pitchers Luke Harrison and Brady Kehlenbrink respectively needed 15 and 13 pitches to get through the first inning. Texas catcher Carson Tinney had a loud out in the bottom of the first inning, but his 396-foot shot to center field fell four feet short of the wall.
