AUSTIN, Texas — Austin police are searching for a driver who drove off after hitting a man and two young children who were riding a bike together in southwest Austin.

APD says that, on Wednesday morning at around 8:24 a.m., the driver of a small 4-door SUV or hatchback, possible a Mazda 5, ran a red light at the intersection of West Slaughter Lane and Escarpment Boulevard before striking a bicyclist.

Video of the crash shows the vehicle striking a bicycle ridden by an adult male, a 4-year-old and a 3-year-old after running the red light.

Police say the suspect vehicle continued to travel westbound on West Slaughter Lane after the crash.

APD detectives ask that those with any information about the crash is asked to submit a tip anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers at austincrimestoppers.org, or by calling 512-472-8477.
