Sherie Kathleen “Kathy” Autrey, 68, of North Richland Hills, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, in North Richland Hills. Born on May 2, 1958, in Fort Worth, Kathy was the beloved daughter of Bob and Juanita Tankersley. Kathy married Gene Autrey, the love of her life, in Weatherford, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and enduring love. Before dedicating herself fully to her family and home, Kathy worked as a caretaker with MHMR, a role that reflected her compassionate and nurturing spirit. She was a devoted homemaker whose greatest joy came from caring for those she loved. A woman of deep faith, Kathy was a cherished member of Christian Center of Fort Worth, where she taught Sunday School and Birdville Church of Christ. She found peace and happiness in life’s simple blessings – long drives along country roads, warm sunshine, the beauty of nature, and quiet picnics by the lake. Kathy treasured reading, especially her Bible, and found comfort and inspiration through music with wholesome and spiritual messages. In her younger years, Kathy loved riding and caring for horses and always held a special affection for country living. Though life carried her elsewhere, her heart never strayed far from open skies and peaceful landscapes. She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her daughter, Shannon Huffman and husband Aaron of Las Vegas; her son, Ryan Autrey and wife Elisha of North Richland Hills; her brother, Steven Tankersley of Houston; and her beloved grandchildren, Emberlyn, Logan, Riley Huffman, and Cecilia Autrey. Kathy was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Gene Autrey; her parents, Bob and Juanita Tankersley; and her brother, Robert Tankersley. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Breyley Room at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will take place Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel at Mount Olivet Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
