EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso Zoo and Botanical Gardens will be closed Sunday, May 17, the day after a threat forced its evacuation, the zoo said on social media.
El Paso Police investigated the threat and spent four hours searching the zoo on Saturday, but found nothing. The zoo reopened at about 6 p.m. Saturday for visitors to come and get their vehicles out of the parking lot. The parking lot stayed open till midnight.

The zoo said it will be closed on Sunday “so the team can catch up after Saturday’s distractions.”
“We apologize for the inconvenience and we look forward to seeing you again soon,” the post said.
The zoo will reopen at 9 a.m. on Monday.
