COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M softball survived the NCAA Tournament for one more night.
The Aggies lost to Arizona State earlier in the day and fought their way back into the winner’s bracket with a 10-3 victory over UConn. Connecticut cut into A&M’s five-run lead in the sixth with a solo homer and RBI single. But the Aggies’ bats got hot in the seventh inning and the four insurance runs helped lift them over the Huskies.

After staying alive in the tournament, A&M has another game against Arizona State. If the Aggies win, the squads will play a decisive Game 7 for a spot in the Austin Super Regional. The Aggies must win twice to advance. If Arizona State wins at any point Saturday afternoon, the Sun Devils advance to super regionals weekend and the Aggies’ season is over.
