LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A Lubbock cheer and dance team is asking for the community’s support as its dancers head to Dallas next month.
Elevate Cheer and Dance just celebrated the one year anniversary of opening its doors.

“Elevate is really special to me because my team and I, we’ve elevated from another place and now we’re here,” Ebony Holloman, Elevate’s owner and head coach, said.
Holloman says qualifying for the national stage in her studio’s first year is a testament to her team.
The team had more than a dozen dances qualify for nationals last month.
“Out of our 14 entries we have 11 first place, two second, and one third. All of our entries qualified for nationals,” Holloman said.
The national competition is also a chance for the girls to see their hard work pay off. Holloman says some of the dances were choreographed by her girls, some as young as third grade.
“I learn so much from them every day, they inspire me every day,” Holloman said. “They get out there and win and place and work really hard to do what they do.”
The team has worked to raise money for the national competition through fundraisers and car washes. Now, they’re asking for the community’s help.
Holloman says it will cost about $5,000 for the team to travel to Dallas. That includes their travel, stay, and food.
“The main goal is to open them up to new experiences and provide them with the resources they need and want,” Holloman said.
