Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer is looking to score a home that’s closer to his team.
After a year in the top job at America’s Team, Schottenheimer has listed the family’s four-bedroom house in McKinney, Texas, for $3.8 million as he looks to shorten his commute to the team’s practice facility in Frisco, known as the Star, according to the listing agent.
“His schedule is so demanding,” said Compass’s Carrie Himel, who listed the home late last month.. “The drive was just a little too far.”

The low-rise McKinney house was custom built in 2021 for the previous owner in the gated Stonebridge Ranch community. The family bought it off market through Himel sometime after Schottenheimer first joined the Cowboys as offensive coordinator in 2022.
The house sits on a 1-acre treed lot with a creek in the yard and ample open space. “You can see nature from every window,” Himel said. “It really feels like a Texas Hill Country resort.”
The house spans 5,751 square feet, with four bedrooms, a chef’s kitchen, cathedral ceilings, a floor-to-ceiling marble fireplace in the living area and a spa-like primary bath, according to the listing
The grounds include a yoga garden, an infinity-edge pool, a standalone three-car garage and enough space to add a sports court or casita, should the next owner want to, according to Himel.
Schottenheimer, 52, played football through college—first at the University of Kansas then the University of Florida—and began his coaching career in 1997, moving up to offensive coordinator at the NFL level by 2006. He is the son of the late Marty Schottenheimer, who was a player and a coach himself for 21 seasons in the NFL. He could not immediately be reached for comment.

In Schottenheimer’s eventful first weeks as the Cowboys’ head coach, even his house made the headlines. Apparently, a snake bit the family dog before a Week 2 victory against the New York Giants and an owl got into the house days before the team was set to play the Arizona Cardinals.
If the indoor owl was an omen for success against the Cardinals, Schottenheimer was all for it, according to ESPN. “I’ll put an elephant in my frickin’ garage,” he said at the time. “I’ll do that next. If that’s what it takes to win, I’ll do it.”
The Cardinals beat the Cowboys 27-17 so the garage should be safe—but the anecdote is evidence that the property is home to its share of nature and wildlife, Himel noted.
“It’s just so serene,” she said.
