The Corpus Christi Cathedral is preparing for its annual gala this week, bringing together parishioners and community members to celebrate faith, fellowship, and the cathedral’s ongoing outreach efforts.
Father Luis Lozano Jr. spoke about the event during an appearance on First Edition on Monday, calling the gala a celebration of the spiritual bonds that unite the community and support the cathedral’s ministries.

The inaugural Cathedral Gala is scheduled for Friday, May 22. Proceeds from the event will help fund several parish programs, including religious education, youth outreach, young adult ministries and sacred music programs.
Lozano said the event also supports the cathedral’s OCIA program, which helps people learn more about the Catholic faith or prepare to become Catholic.
“This cathedral gala is to support all of those ministry events, everything that the parish does for our community and our broader community of faith,” Lozano said.
Organizers describe the gala as a “family reunion” and homecoming event for people who may not have visited the cathedral in some time.
The event will also welcome back Bishop Daniel Flores, who previously served as rector of the cathedral. Flores is expected to deliver the keynote address during the celebration.
Lozano said the evening will also recognize 85 years of history and hope tied to the cathedral and its role in the community.
