LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Tristin and Hannah Chaudhury are part of a large family full of people who make a difference in their community.
“Our father, along with our family members, played a huge role in planting that seed for medicine,” Hannah said, “and I think as went throughout college and medical school, we had our own individual paths in medicine.”
Tristin and Hannah’s uncle started this journey for the Chaudhury’s when he moved from India to America to go to medical school, something that would have a profound impact on the family.
“Seeing what our family did for us and how they contributed to our growth,” Tristin said, “we’re very appreciative of them, but also, that became part of our impetuous to go into medicine.”
The family can now count 22 doctors among its members, including Tristin and Hannah, who recently graduated from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine.
With Tristin pursuing his master’s first, he and Hannah have attended medical school together for the past four years. It’s allowed them to push through tough days and stay connected.
“It’s been such a blessing to be able to go through this journey together,” Hannah said. “Medical school is tough in itself doing it on your own, so when you have one, such a great support system with your family, but also doing it with your sibling, it’s very unique.”
Tristin’s next stop is on the East Coast, where he will be pursuing radiation oncology at the University of Florida. Hannah plans to pursue dermatology at Texas Tech following an internship in South Carolina.
Both are grateful for the support they’ve received along the way and can’t wait to help patients for decades to come.
“We got to experience four years together here and even though we’re going on different paths for right now,” Tristin said, “maybe we’ll cross paths again in the future together in healthcare.”
