Gore, who threw only one inning, was replaced by right-handed pitcher Peyton Gray at the start of the second. The 27-year-old threw 28 pitches in an erratic first frame and allowed two runs on three hits and two walks. He dove into the grass adjacent to the mound in an attempt to field a softly hit ground ball from left fielder Jake McCarthy but remained in the game to finish the inning.
The Rangers trailed 2-1 at the time of Gore’s exit.
Gore, acquired this winter from the Washington Nationals in exchange for five prospects, has a 4.78 ERA in 49 innings this season. He pitched a career-best eight innings vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks in his previous start but has otherwise had an up-and-down first two months with the team.
