FREER, Texas — Freer Independent School District has canceled its classes after overnight storms caused damage to district buildings and created electrical issues, according to district officials.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Superintendent Conrad Cantu said the closure was necessary so crews could assess the damage and begin repairs.
Officials said storm-related issues affected multiple buildings and raised electrical concerns that need to be addressed before students and staff can safely return.
The district apologized to families for the inconvenience and said it will provide updates as repairs continue.
It was not immediately clear when classes would resume.
