EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – El Paso will host a major regional photography convention over Memorial Day weekend, marking its return to the Borderland after 25 years.
The Gulf States Camera Club Council’s 2026 Convention, themed “Photography Without Borders” (“Fotografía Sin Fronteras”), is scheduled for May 28 to May 30 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Downtown El Paso.
Organizers stated that the event is expected to draw photographers, videographers, and visual artists from across the southern United States.
Hosted in partnership with the Photography Enthusiasts of El Paso, the convention will feature workshops, presentations, and guided photo excursions throughout the city. Topics will include landscape, portrait, documentary, wildlife, and travel photography, along with film and equestrian photography sessions.
El Paso’s identity as a binational community influenced the selection of this year’s theme and location, according to convention organizers.
Attendees will have the opportunity to photograph local parks, historic landmarks, downtown architecture, and neighborhoods throughout the Borderland.
The convention’s keynote speaker will be Wayne Suggs, a nationally recognized landscape photographer known for his nature and scenic photography work.
Additional events include a Friday evening gathering at the War Eagles Air Museum and a Saturday awards banquet at the downtown hotel.
The return of the convention adds to a growing list of arts and cultural events in El Paso that aim to highlight the region’s creative community and cross-border identity.
Organizers said they hope the event will also provide an economic boost for local hotels, restaurants, and tourism-related businesses during the holiday weekend.
