LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock Police Chief Seth Herman said a Lubbock police officer was arrested inside police headquarters on Tuesday after being indicted by a grand jury.
Herman said officer April Mora was taken into custody without incident just before 4 p.m. on the third floor of headquarters on four charges of false record on a birth certificate.
Mora is currently on unpaid administrative leave but was initially placed on paid leave on April 15. Two weeks later, during an administrative investigation, Herman said Lubbock Metropolitan’s Special Crimes Unit was made aware of an allegation against officer Mora falsifying her child’s birth certificate.
After an investigation took place over multiple weeks, the decision to present the charges was made today. She is currently being held on a $3,000 bond in the Lubbock County Detention Center.
