LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce is hosting a community panel Friday focused on the role AI data centers should play in local communities.
The discussion will focus on what the facilities are and what they aren’t, plus how they affect local economies, infrastructure and policies.
Questions about the power grid, water usage and community investment will be addressed.
Google is sponsoring the event. The company has spent billions to build AI data centers to power its Gemini products and Google Cloud.
The guests include George P. Bush, Texas Tech Chancellor Brandon Creighton, Lubbock LEDA CEO John Osborne and Chris Matos from Google.
The event is in-person only and will not be livestreamed.
It starts at noon Friday in the Texas Tech Club at the north end zone of the Jones. To RSVP, click here.
