It’s the end of an era for one long-running Texas food and wine show.
Goodtaste with Tanji host Tanji Patton announced on Facebook that the show’s current season will be its last. She called the move to end the show “one of the biggest decisions of my career,” explaining that the change has been in the works for a while.
“Mike and I started Goodtaste as an online show and magazine back in 2008,” the Houston native wrote. “One divine domino after another fell into place, and our TV show came to life in 2016. After more than a decade and 11 seasons, Goodtaste with Tanji is now broadcast on 17 stations across Texas, as well as in Oklahoma and Nashville (yes…Nashville!) and carried on the RFD-TV network.”
According to Patton, the Goodtaste for the Soul podcast will now be the focus. She said, “We’ll continue sharing food and wine through our digital platforms, while also creating inspiring, uplifting conversations through the podcast. I’m beyond blessed to step into this chapter alongside my son, Cash, who is helping produce and handle marketing.”
Goodtaste for the Soul began as a two-minute segment, “faith-based and designed to make people smile,” according to Patton’s post. Now, it’s a full-blown podcast on platforms like Apple Podcasts and Spotify with more than 70 episodes on topics ranging from spirituality, nature, food and much more.
Patton said the change comes with “so many mixed emotions, but they all come from a very good place and are leading into an exciting new chapter in our Goodtaste world.”
“This decision actually began two years ago, with a very real, still small voice — to use my voice for Him,” she wrote. “I am incredibly grateful for the talented team of professionals I work with at Goodtaste—photographers, producers, editors. It’s no coincidence our paths crossed. I truly believe God placed us on a beautiful collision course—a plan He set in motion long before any of us realized it.”
She ended the post with a classic “GO SPURS GO!” pointing to her San Antonio roots. A former investigative reporter, Patton helped launch San Antonio Living on News 4 San Antonio back in 1997. She was with the station for 17 years, serving as the 6 and 10 p.m. anchor.
