Texas is one of the top states for a niche, yet adorable, group of influencers, according to new research.

Influencers known for showing off their furry friends are growing rapidly around the country, and Texas is the fourth best state for TikTok creators, according to research by Ubiquitous Influence.

According to the study, five pet creators in Texas command a combined 23.2 million followers on the short-form video social media app. And those cute little faces command an estimated $232,495 per sponsored post, the study says.

The marketing and brand company analyzed the most-followed pet creators on TikTok in the U.S. to determine which state has the biggest pet stars. Five of the creators analyzed were based in Texas.

Pet influencers themselves have been on a rapid rise, with Google search interest rising more than 1,100% in the past year, Ubiquitous said.

“Pet accounts are exploding right now because they’re one of the only corners of social media that doesn’t ask anything of the viewer,” Andrew Bankson, Ubiquitous’ vice president of growth, said in the study. “No take to agree with, no lifestyle to envy, no diet to follow. In a feed full of people telling you what to think, that’s a welcome relief.”

New York took the top spot with 39 million combined followers across seven major accounts. Texas also followed California, which commands 25.9 million followers across 10 creators, and Maine, which has 25.8 million followers across three major creators.

Texas’ pet influencer leader is @dontstopmeowing, a cat duo that commands 13.8 million followers on TikTok. The cats, owned by a young couple, were among a wave of Californians moving to Texas.
