John Edgar “Johnny” Hooper, 74, of Corpus Christi, Texas, died on Dec. 16, 2025. John was born on July 11, 1951, in Wynne, Ark., to parents Jack and Eleanor Hooper. He graduated from Wynne High School and later completed bachelor’s and master’s degrees in liberal arts and education. John had a very bright mind and a lifelong passion for reading. He loved the classics, the study of philosophy, and was a stimulating conversationalist. He had an aptitude for the technical fields of computer applications and training. In later life, he had a second career as a land surveyor, principally in the oil industry.
John is survived by his daughters, Jessica (Jeff) Houseal and Dana (Kyle) Russell, and three grandchildren; his sister, Patricia Hooper; and brother, Joseph Hooper. John was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene and Richard Hooper.
On June 2, 2026, at 10 a.m., a Funeral Mass, presided by Fr. Peter Okolo, will be held in John’s memory at St. Peter’s Church, 1695 Falls Blvd., Wynne, Ark., 72396, with burial afterward at Cogbill Cemetery. Receiving of friends will be held from 9-100 a.m. on June 2 at St. Peter’s Church prior to the Funeral Mass.
