A second suspect has been arrested in connection to a shooting at a Central Texas barbecue joint last month, according to new court documents. The shooting happened on Sunday, April 26, in front of Sam’s BBQ in East Austin and left half a dozen people injured.
Last month, the Austin Police Department arrested and charged 24-year-old Wesley E. Brown with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for his alleged involvement in the shooting. Now, New Travis County Court records show Dalin Harris has also been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and deadly conduct for discharging a firearm.
The Travis County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to MySA that Harris was booked into a Travis County Jail on Thursday, May 14. MySA reached out to Travis County for more information on Harris’ arrest affidavit.
In April, APD said two men were involved in a fight around 8:30 p.m. that escalated into a shootout outside Sam’s BBQ, which resulted in several bystanders being struck in the 2000 block of East 12th Street. Six victims were taken to local hospitals for non-life-threatening gunshot injuries, two of whom were transported by Austin Travis County EMS, and the other four self-transported.
The suspects allegedly ran away, fleeing the scene in a vehicle, and authorities later found Brown the next day on Monday, April 27. CBS Austin reports the confrontation may have stemmed from an ongoing dispute involving money from a Houston Airbnb trip, according to an affidavit.
