EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A 57-year-old Central El Paso man has been arrested in connection with an aggravated robbery reported earlier this month at a business in Downtown El Paso.

El Paso police said officers responded on May 6 to a robbery in progress at a business in the 900 block of S. Stanton in Segundo Barrio.

A preliminary investigation found that the suspect, identified as Rodolfo Madrid Torres, entered the business, assaulted the owner and demanded money.

Police said the owner was able to break free and lock the suspect inside the business.

When officers arrived, they believed the suspect was still inside, but he had exited the business and fled before they got there.

Investigators later determined the suspect stole cash and the owner’s wallet, police said.

Officers identified Torres as the suspect during the investigation.

Torres was arrested on Tuesday and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a charge of aggravated robbery.
